Beginner’s Guide to Firewood

Here at Comyford Contracting we offer several great products! For people new to firewood, it can be difficult to choose which is the best for you. Our premier woods for heating your home are Oak and Madrone, while Fir excels in the outdoors (campfires). Fir can also be used as an economical option for indoor heat, but Oak is the best bang for your buck. When burning Oak, the homeowner gets a longer burn in comparison to Fir, which means more heat and a longer burn per piece of wood. The longer burn time reduces how often you have to add wood to your stove. Madrone, similar to Oak, has a long burn time, which is why it is also a premier wood for heating your house. Madrone differs from Oak when it comes to ash production. Madrone produces less ash than Oak, so it saves you from having to clean out your fireplace one or two more times per season.
